What is the ACT / SAT ?????

This seminar is designed to inform you about the ACT and SAT. As Juniors you are required to take the ACT in March with WECHS and you are encouraged to take the SAT.   1. 1. The ACT is a standardized pencil and paper test and is used as a college entrance exam.
    2. The SAT is a globally recognized college admissions test. It is very similar to the ACT.
    3. There are many differences between the SAT and the ACT. The SAT is a reasoning test and the ACT is a content based test. The SAT has more vocabulary, meanwhile the ACT has a science section. The ACT tests more advanced concepts, and also there is no writing section.
    4. The SAT is divided into 10 sections. The ACT has five sections including the Writing.
    5. The national average ACT score is 21 and the average SAT score is 1500.
    6. There are many things that you can do to prepare for the two tests. The most common method is to take practice tests.

    7. I have tried to prep for the SAT by answering practice questions, but lately, I have not done any practice because I have been so tied up with school.
    8. It is important to do well on these tests because colleges look at these scores to decide whether or not they want to accept you into their college.
    9. I plan on applying to NC State. The SAT requirement for that school is 1700 and the ACT score is 24.
    10. The cost for the ACT without writing is $34 and with Writing, it is $49.50. The SAT is $49.
    11. The SAT is offered on the 6th of October and the 3rd of November. The ACT is offered on the 27th of October.
    12. It is possible to register for both, ACT and SAT online. To register for the SAT, students should use College Board and to register for the ACT, they should use ACT Student.

    3. The difference between the two is that the SAT has a stronger emphasis on vocabulary, and is broken up into more sections. The ACT questions tend to be more straightforward, has a Science section, while the SAT does not, ACT tests have more advanced math concepts, the writing part is not required,and it is more of a "big picture" exam.
    4. The SAT has 10 sections and the ACT has five sections, writing optional.
    5. A good ACT score would be above a 20 since that is what most colleges accept you on. A good score for the SAT is a 1500, that is the national average.
    6. I think the best way to study for any big test is to prepare yourself for it by taking different practice test. Since you can get an overview of what type of test it will be like, instead of studying many different broad subjects.     7. I haven't took much thought into the test, but now that I know when the date of it is, I will start soon, I just have a lot of school work and senior project stuff to do and study for that there isn't much time for SAT or ACT prep. But I will start doing practice test eventually.
    8. It is important to do well on the SAT and ACT because these two test play a major part in what colleges look at when accepting students and since getting into certain colleges can be very competitive, it is good to do well.
    9. I plan on applying to UNC Chapel Hill, ECU, NC State, UNCC, and possibly one or two out of state colleges I have some interest in. The SAT score for UNC chapel Hill is a 1750 to be considered
    10. The basic ACT registration fee is $34, with writing it is 49.50, and a late registration fee is $21.The price for the SAT reasoning test is 49 dollars.

    7. I don't prep for the SAT or ACT right now because I have 7 classes and I have to much on my hands with those.
    8. It is important to do well on the ACT and SAT because it can give you a greater chance for getting in the college of your choice.
    9. I am not sure of the colleges I'm going to apply to because I haven't looked around and I want to go to a college in Japan so I don't know what the requirements are for colleges in Japan.
    10. It cost $50 to take the SAT and about $35 to $50 for ACT depending on if you want the writing section.
    11. It seems like the SAT is offered once a month and the ACT is offered on October 27.

    3. The difference between the ACT and the SAT is that the ACT is an achievement test, measuring what a student has learned in school. The SAT is more of an aptitude test, testing reasoning and verbal abilities. The SAT has a correction for guessing. That is, they take off for wrong answers. The ACT is scored based on the number of correct answers with no penalty for guessing.

    5. For a good ACT score colleges would want a 20 or higher and the national average for the SAT is 15000.

    6.In order to practice for these test you must study and make sure you understand the concepts your being tested on also knowing what to expect and what your actually about to take.     7. I currently am not preparing for either the ACT or the SAT i was registered to take the ACT this past summer but post poned it because I had too much going on and did not feel prepared. I feel like I should be preparing because I need to take them in order to get into colleges.

    8. It is important to do well on these tests because these test are a big factor in getting into good colleges you must meet certain scores and requirements to even be considered.

    9. I want to apply to UNC charlotte and UNCW. UNC charlotte asks for a SAT score of 1480-1730 and an ACT score of 21-26. UNCW requires SAT scores of 1130-1250 and ACT scores of 23-28.


    10. The cost of the ACT is $34 without writing if writing is added it becomes $49.50. While the cost of the SAT is $50.
